The Story Behind Dpartur

Hi! I'm the founder of Dpartur — a Commercial Pilot and a Social Care professional. I know, what a mix! I started this because I saw how stressed and lost my own granny would be every time she flew over to visit my family and I. I couldn't stand the thought of her feeling vulnerable, so I decided to go and get her myself.

That one trip changed everything. I realized that so many families live with that same "pit in their stomach" when a parent or a child has to fly alone. I've decided to blend my expertise in both the aviation and social service industries to make sure your family never has to feel that way.

I'm here to bridge the gap and get your loved one home safely.

to make sure it never happens to your family.

Lost & Unreachable

Elderly travelers feeling totally lost with no way to tell their family where they are or what's happening.

Left Waiting Alone

Left sitting in unfamiliar hallways during layovers with no guidance on gates, times, or what comes next.

Young & Vulnerable

Young travelers arriving in a new city and not knowing how to safely get to their hotel — a nightmare for any parent.

Two tiers. One promise.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are you insured?

Yes. Dpartur operates with public liability insurance for every trip. A certificate of insurance is available on request.

Have you had a background check?

Yes, I've completed a full background/police clearance check. Verification is available on request.

What routes do you cover?

I'm based in Madrid, which is my home base for most bookings. However, I can travel to meet your family member anywhere in the world and accompany them back. For example, flying to Tokyo to collect a traveler and bring them home to Madrid, or anywhere else your family needs. Just share the pickup location and destination when you inquire, and I'll confirm availability and provide a tailored quote.

Do you have set prices?

Pricing depends on route, trip length, and whether an overnight stay is required. I'll send a full breakdown, including my own travel costs, within 24 hours of your inquiry, with no hidden fees.

Do you book the flight tickets?

You (or your family member) book their own ticket directly with the airline, and that cost is paid by you separately. Once I have the confirmed flight details, I book my own ticket on the same flight. This cost is included in your quote and covered by the payments you make to me, so you don't need to purchase anything for me directly.

Will you be seated next to my family member?

I'll always request to sit beside them and will book as early as possible to secure this. On rare occasions where the airline can't accommodate adjacent seating (e.g. a fully booked flight), I'll still be on the same flight and will assist them at every other point: boarding, layovers, and landing. I'll also check on them during the flight even if we're not seat-adjacent.

How does payment work?

A deposit confirms your booking and secures the date. The remaining balance is due once your family member's ticket is confirmed and before I book my own flight. Payment is accepted via bank transfer or secure card payment, and a full invoice is provided for every booking.

What's your cancellation policy?

The deposit is non-refundable, as it confirms the booking and covers costs already committed on my end. If you cancel 14+ days before travel, the remaining balance is refunded in full. Cancellations within 14 days are subject to a partial or full charge depending on how close to the travel date, since my flight and accommodation costs are often already booked by that point.

What happens if the flight is delayed or cancelled by the airline?

I stay with your family member for the entire duration, including delays, cancellations, or rebooking. You'll be updated in real time regardless of how the day changes. The service fee is not refunded in this case, as it covers my time and availability for the full assignment.

What if there's a medical emergency during the trip?

As a trained care professional, I can respond to non-emergency needs and will coordinate directly with airline staff and medical personnel if a more serious situation arises. For clients with specific medical needs, please share these details in advance so I can prepare accordingly.

How will I know what's happening during the trip?

You'll receive updates at key points: departure, boarding, layovers (if any), and arrival, so you're never left wondering.

How far in advance should I book?

I recommend booking at least 2-3 weeks ahead when possible, especially for long-haul or less common routes, to allow time for flight coordination. Last-minute requests are considered case by case.

Can I request the same companion for a return trip or future travel?

Yes. Many families prefer continuity. Mention this when you inquire and I'll do my best to accommodate recurring routes.
